How does an arborist differ from a tree surgeon?

A tree surgeon works on trees to maintain, i.e., prunes and cares for old and damaged trees to preserve them. To be a tree surgeon, you will often be working at heights using chainsaws and other power tools to remove and trim trees.
However an arborist is a trained individual who plants, maintain, as well as perform hazard assessments on individual trees, vines, shrubs or other perennial woody plant species.
